2013 Lexus GS 450h ready to perform better, use less fuel

2013 Lexus GS 450h: Frankfurt 2011

The Lexus Hybrid Drive system that uses an V6 Atkinson Cycle engine and a nickel-metal hydride battery, there's more than a little bit of the Toyota Prius' Hybrid Synergy Drive inside the new 2013 Lexus GS 450h. Unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the GS 450h improves on the 2012 Lexus GS 350 with more power (an extra 32 horses) and better fuel efficiency. Lexus says the GS 450h is "expected" to be around 30 percent less gas hungry, but we'll have to wait until the official numbers come in to know for sure. Lexus does say the 0-60 time is a trim 5.6 seconds and that the car is likely to be declared a Super-Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II (SULEV II). As is common on Toyota family hybrids, the GS 450h has different driving modes, including: Eco, Sport S, Sport S+ and EV.
