In what seems to be a bit of a backwards order, BMW has now released their 650i Coupe model six months after the German manufacturer unveiled their 6-Series Convertible version. The third generation 650i Coupe will arrive in US showrooms in Fall 2011.
The BMW 6-Series Coupe will be offered in a couple of different versions, but the US market will only be privy to the more powerful 650i version with a 400 HP V8 engine. European buyers will get their choice from this same model, plus a 640i version powered by a 320 hp six-in-line petrol unit.
The new 650i Coupe features a more stunning design and even sharper driving dynamics than its predecessor, along with optimized comfort levels and extra space. The Coupe is actually 2.9 inches (74 mm) longer with a 2.95 inch (75 mm) longer wheelbase. The car is also 1.5 inches wider, but sits 0.36 inch lower.
UPDATE 05/02/2011: BMW has announced prices for the new 650i Coupe that will go on sale later this year. With a starting price of $83,875, the coupe version is a few thousand dollars cheaper than the convertible version that is priced at $91,375. BMW has also confirmed that there will be an M6 version offered, as well as a six-cylinder version of the 6-Series. The US market won’t get a diesel version.
